So the first day of my safari did not disappoint. We started in Tarangire National Park and my guide Eric said the place I was staying for the night has great views for sundowners. He was right! I quickly got to my room at the Tarangire Sopa Lodge and hustled my way back to the main lodge and went out to the patio to check out the sunset. I wandered to this spot on the patio that was slightly away from where people had perched themselves to enjoy their evening cocktails.
I could not believe that no one else was in my spot. I had a wonderful framed view of the sunset with this clearing of the trees. The sky was a nice red orange, oh and did I mention the sun is huge for sunset. I mean I have seen a pretty sunset or two in my day but this blew most of my sunsets away and the sun never appeared so big before. I was lucky enough that a few elephants were right in the clearing throwing some dust around.
Right as I snapped this picture a bird flew in the top part of the frame. Just a perfect moment. I did get called away in the last few moments of the sun dipping down, this couple claiming there was something awesome to see. I was thinking maybe they had a great view of the sunset too, maybe better than what I had so I wandered over and unfortunately they did not see the sunset from there but were enjoying a herd of elephants enjoying a watering hole. So I missed the sun as it was just on the horizon, but that was okay as this moment made up for it.
