Can I tell you about this amazingly special moment? It was early in the morning, the light of dawn was just breaking into the day. We had ourselves packed up for a 3 hour ride north to catch the great migration when all of a sudden we see these little weeks old cubs (hidden in plain sight mind you).  They were so precious cautiously watching us to determine if we were friend or foe.  There were just an arm’s reach away (of course we weren’t trying), momma cat just out of reach was eyeing us up to make sure her precious gems were safe.

So why this shot for today? Well my photography support group leader, hahaha. Yes I am a photographer addict and no we do not stay anonymous. Well he likes to do a highlight pic from his community from 2017.  He asked for everyone to pick one, just one, shot to submit for your favorite shot of 2017.  Picking one is so hard, and I have many favorites.  This is my submission for my 2017 shot.  Yes there are other shots I am super excited that I captured because it was a raw moment, the light/scenery/etc was fantastic, but this is one shot I can go back to time and time again and instantly be transported back to the memory of how special this time was. My guide and I were in just whispers, listening to their little mews and amazed we stumbled upon them and had such an experience that no one else was able to have.  That is what makes this my 2017 shot.

Taken at 150mm at 1/200 sec with my D500.
